Because pearls are an organic gemstone, they are different from other gemstones and precious metals. They are softer and more delicate, and they can therefore be more easily scratched, cracked, and damaged. In addition, substances such as perfume and hair spray -- and even natural body oils and perspiration -- can dull pearls' luster.
Here are some easy step to keep your pearls looking brand new:
- Always put your pearls on after you've applied your makeup and perfume.
- Clean dirty pearls with a mild soap and water solution.
- Never clean your pearls with solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents.
- Don't put pearl jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaner.
- Don't use abrasive cleaners or rub pearls with abrasive cloth. Both can wear away the nacre coating, leaving you with a plain looking bead.
All Danari Pearls are strung with knots between each pearl. This prevents the pearls from rubbing against each other and causing damage as well as preventing all the pearls falling off the strand if it breaks.
